TDR, the Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases, is a global programme of scientific collaboration that helps facilitate, support and influence efforts to combat diseases of poverty.

Scholarship Type:

 Grants are awarded to pursue short research.

Grants are awarded in Infectious Diseases of Poverty.

Scholarship Benefits:

US$ 10 000 – 15 000 per grant. Co-funding from domestic or other sources is encouraged.

Host Country of Scholarship:

Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR) countries

Eligibility Country Of Scholarship:

Citizens from the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region are qualified to apply.

Eligibility For The 2018 Joint EMRO/TDR Small Grants Scheme For Implementation Research In Infectious Diseases of Poverty:

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following;

  • Young researchers, female researchers and under-represented countries are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Researchers from different institutions, especially from more than one country in the region, are also strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Health care workers and researchers are eligible to apply for this grant, including institutions in EMR national tropical/communicable disease control programmes embedded within ministries of health, academic institutions, research institutes, nongovernmental organizations (including professional societies and civil service organizations involved in tropical disease research activities).
  • Applicants whose mother tongue is not English are usually required to provide evidence of proficiency in English at the higher level required by the University.
